Kim Gainer is an writer and performer and was a producing member of The Shalimar. She performed and toured internationally with company. Work with Shalimar includes: Phaedra in “La Femme est Morte” at PS 122, the Coil Festival, and Edinburgh Fringe Festival (Stage Award, UK) Recent NY:”Lost Tribe” at Target Margin, “Fabulation” with Brave New World Rep, “Field Trip: A Climate Cabaret” with Superhero Clubhouse, Mariah MacCarthy’s “Magic Trick” at Here Arts, “The All-American Genderf*ck Cabaret” and Branden Jacobs-Jenkins’ “The Octoroon” at PS 122. Regional: Miss Julie” at Actors Theater of Louisville, “From the Mississippi Delta” at Stamford Theatre Works and “Play by Plays” at Stageworks on the Hudson. She studied theater at The University of Michigan. She is the recipient of an artist’s grant from the Bob Rauschenberg Foundation. She is also a burlesque artist who performs under the name Ms. Minty Newport. She is a proud member of Actors Equity.
